The Background Story:
In early 2012 Lynsey and Josh decided the time was right for a major move/change/adventure, and our minds wandered back to South America - a continent we became very fond of after exploring Peru in the summer of 2011. We had certain criterion while searching for a new home: Lynsey = art & culture, Josh = nature & culture. After surfing many S.A. cities on the web, we decided on a city and country that neither of us had ever stepped foot in. Crazy? Scary? Exciting? We thought so too...
We decided on Cuenca, the third-largest city and the "cultural capital" of Ecuador. We were content to call Cuenca home from 2012-2014. During much of that time, Lynsey and I both taught at a non-profit language institute called CEDEI, one of the most reputable English language schools in the city. We left the country in May, 2014 and now reside in Seattle, Washington.
This blog was our opportunity to share our insights and experiences with the many people we left in the States along with any eager travelers who might come across us on the web. Thank you to everyone who has given us generous words of support and encouragement before, during, and now after our experience abroad; they truly mean the world to us.
Love,
Josh & Lynsey
